I am a professional drummer currently based in the South of England. In addition to performing with various bands around the country I also provide private drum lessons around the Locks Heath area.
My music education has seen me study for 4 years at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where I was taught by some of the countries finest instructors and performers, as well as receiving priceless master classes with some of the biggest names in the drumming and music industry today. As well as gaining a BA(Hons) Degree, I also achieved a BTEC Diploma and Higher National Diploma in music (specialising in drum kit).
As a performer I have had the opportunity to travel the world performing on luxury Cruise Ships, play in various Theatre productions, as well as regular gigs for corporate functions, weddings and parties with some of the top cover bands in the country.
As a teacher I love nothing more than being able to share the knowledge I've learnt so that others can benefit, progress and enjoy themselves. The joy of the music world though is that there's always more to learn and practice!

My private drum lessons take place in Southampton and Portsmouth. Being based in Locks Heath I am also able to offer mobile lessons to students based in Locks Heath, Warsash, Park Gate, Titchfield, Fareham, Whitely, Stubbington, Segensworth, Sarisbury and other nearby areas. Of course you'll need your own drum kit, but the benefit is you can learn in the comfort of your own home on your own kit. Please note I am able to travel further distances, however additional travel costs will apply.
I am able to offer drum lessons in Locks Heath at my own facilities, particularly for those of you just starting or without a drum kit. This is located 5 minutes from Junction 9 of the M27 and 2 minutes from the A27.
Whether you're a beginning or advanced player, I strongly believe I can tailor a lesson plan to help you develop and improve in the areas YOU want. We all want to learn different things, and luckily I have a vast supply of resources at my disposal including a huge supply drum books, DVD's, one-off lesson ideas or just by spotting errors or problems that can be fixed quickly.
In order to get beginning drummers playing and enjoying themselves as quickly as possible I have also written my own teaching syllabus to do just that. Titled 'See, Hear, Sing, Play' the book will have you up and running in no time, so that we can quickly move onto specific ideas, songs or techniques you wish to learn.
A brief selection of possible topics covered include:
- All styles of music, from rock to latin.
- Various techniques - Moeller, double bass etc.
- Co-ordination and independence.
- Sight reading and chart interpretation.
- Repertoire - we can look at any songs you want to learn.
- Rudiments, sticking patterns and combinations.
- Groove and fill playing.
- Playing to backing and click tracks.
A one hour drum lesson is £25. As stated earlier however, for mobile lessons please note that additional costs will apply if you live outside a set radius from Locks Heath (please enquire for details).
A 45 minutelesson costs £20.
For most students an hour is recommended, while for younger students (under 12 years) it is probably best to start with 45 minutelessons.
Your first half hour is FREE. When starting lessons it will be important for me to assess your current ability level, find out what you want to learn, who your favourite artists are etc. For you as the student it's your chance to make sure you're happy to continue with lessons, and so when regular lessons start there's no time wasted trying to decide what to get you started on!
Please note that cancellation costs are applicable. Details are outlined in the terms and conditions contract both parties will be required to sign at the first lesson.
